AAC Institute

AAC Institute

A “worldwide resource for people with severe communication disorders or who cannot speak, their families and friends, professionals and educators, researchers, developers and manufacturers, funding and other parties (quote from website).” This not-for-profit organization is dedicated to helping people who use AAC achieve the “most effective communication”. This site provides information on evidence-based practice and AAC, including links to articles and conference presentations by Dr. Katya Hill on the topic. Some interesting tools are also featured on this sight (e.g., Single Switch Performance Test) and a wealth of information about language activity monitoring as a way to collect data on speech generating device use.
