AAC Community is a resource for and about people who communicate without speaking.
We all have a human right to communicate. We don't lose that right if we have a disability. People with a disability may have complex communication needs. There are many disabilities that may affect a person's ability to communicate.
What is Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)?
AAC is any form to communicate other than spoken/oral language. We communicate to express thoughts, needs, wants, and ideas.
Who is responsible for AAC Community?
The AAC folks at TechOWL developed and maintain this resource. TechOWL is part of the Institute on Disabilities. The Institute is part of Temple University. The Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) provides funding for AAC Community.
