Making Phone Calls with Proloquo2Go

"I have something to say" on the Proloquo2Go AAC app.

We got some exciting news from the folks at Assistiveware this week.  The latest update to Proloquo2Go includes support for Dark Mode, the use of Split Screen, and……drum roll……making phone calls! People will be able to make a call and speak using their app-based AAC for the very first time.  You will also be able to use Proloquo2Go and FaceTime. This is tremendous news.

Imagine going your whole life without being able to make a private phone call? Imagine the implications for forming friendships, reporting abuse, or asking someone out on a date? Personal privacy is such a foundational concept that it is described in the US Constitution.  We all have the right to have our personal information protected from public scrutiny.

Up until now, people using AAC on an iPhone had the choice of either talking with their AAC, or making a phone call.  You couldn’t do both at the same time. It is kind of hard to talk on the phone without access to your voice.

Proloquo is the first iOS app to allow direct phone calls.  I cannot wait to try it out!
